Death Note: Aha the pen is mightier then the sword

The Facts are These:

Light Yagami is a genius high school student who finds his daily life to be unamusing, until one day by chance he picks up a notebook called the Death Note. Where whoever name he writes in this book will die after testing the book out and figuring out it is real he decides to become the god of his new world, with the death god Ryuk watching him change the world.

Death Note is a very psychological anime making you think about the interaction the characters have on each other and how they are affected by the choices Light makes with the Death Note. The most important interaction in the series is the interaction between Light Yagami and Ryuzaki. With their opposing viewpoints on how justice should be brought about and their ways of changing the world.

Behind the Scenes:

Death Note is based on the manga of the same name by the author Tsugumi Ohba and artist Takeshi Obata, with their other collaborated work being Bakuman. The series was produced by studio Madhouse with their other similar works being Monster and Paranoia Agent. The series was directed by Tetsuro Araki who has worked on Attack on Titan and Guilty Crown. The concept behind Death Note was that Tsugumi Ohba wanted to create a suspenseful series and he could not do a fight style series because the genre had to few suspense series. The opening songs are good , the first one matches the calm and meticulousness of the characters and how the work it is The World by Nightmare. The second opening is just a fever dream of screamo rock, it is What’s up people by Maximum the Hormone. Here are the opening below…

A Brief View of the World:

The world of Death note takes place in modern Tokyo, however this modern Tokyo is connected to the Shinigami world above, where the Shinigamis live. The Shinigamis live in a rotted world with only decaying fruit and a grey bleak world. All they do is gamble and write names down. The Death Note is mainly used by the Shinigamis, whenever they write a name of a person down they get that remaining person’s life span added to theirs. This does not work for when a human uses the Death Note when they use it they just kill people.

This series is incredible to watch for all the mental mind games and the interactions between Light and Ryuzaki. Though this series loses steam in the second arc where Light face someone other than Ryuzaki. The chemistry is not there and it wasn’t as strong as when it was between Light and Ryuzaki.

This series is rewatchable for the interactions between the characters and the mind games that are prominent.

Code Geass – The Main Character Lelouch resembles Lights ideals to change the world and his conviction, they both use a power to do this.

Log Horizon – Shiroe resembles light as a tactician though is much kinder and not as much backstabbing.

I do not own any of the above used pictures and/or video they belong to their original creators, Tsugumi Ohba, Takeshi Obata, Madhouse and Funimation.
