SuperHero Month: The Superior Spider-Man

Tomorrow marks the first ever SuperHero Month and to kick it off we are talking about one of my favourite comics the Superior Spider-Man.

The Facts are These:

When Doctor Otto Octavius aka Doc Oc switches bodies with Peter Parker he take the role of Spider-Man. Now he must protect the world like Peter Parker once did, but under the mantle of The Superior Spider-Man

Discoveries:

When I started this series I was reading it to prepare for the 2014 return of the Amazing Spider-Man comic books. I was not expecting much I just wanted to know the story previous to the restart. I was completely blown away by how much better Doc Oc was as Spider-Man, and I know this is controversial, but this is my opinion deal with it. He did more as Spider-Man than Peter Parker did and he was a better person. This is especially seen in his relationship with Anna-Maria Marconi. Where Peter Parker only dated women with a super model figure, Doc Oc dated a woman for her heart, even with a body he had always dreamed for. He was a better person and a Superior Spider-Man.

Behind the Scenes:

Superior Spider-Man was created by Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman, with Slott working on the story and Stegman on the art. Their previous collaboration was on She-Hulk. Superior Spider-Man ran between January 2013 to August 2014 with the last issue leading into the Edge of Spider-verse storyline. The Superior Spider-man is mentioned in an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Raj mentions he likes it because it mixes elements of the movie Freaky Friday.

A Brief View of the World:

The world of Spider-Man takes place in New York, where Superheroes and Super-villains run amok fighting each other. Spider-man works under the burden of his grandfather’s and friend’s death and tries to protect the city from the villains. The Superior Spider-Man follows Doc Oc has Spider-Man and how he is trying to change the city for the greater good, while writing some wrongs he made.

This is pretty short for a comic with 33 chapter you can breeze through it in a couple of hours. It has a great story that will keep you interested and want to read more.
