Let us look into a show I know nothing about except for it had a crossover chapter with Nisekoi. Let us delve into Ore Monogatari…
Gouda Takeo is a freshman in high school, he is an exceptionally tall man. He spends his days peacefully with his super-popular-with-girls, yet insensitive childhood friend, Sunakawa. One morning, on the train to school, Gouda saves a girl, Yamato, from being molested by a pervert. Now begins Gouda down the path of love.
Right off the bat the story references the Japanese folktale of the Red Ogre and the Blue Ogre. This was a nice start off to the story and forshadowed the possible future of the series, causing me at that moment to be invested into the show. When we are introduced to Gouda, we see a big guy allowing me to instantly invest into this story because I am a big guy. So off the bat this story now has two stars (even though I don’t use stars there are starts involved.
The story shows the relationship between Gouda and his friend Sunakawa. I enjoy what little and I mean little relationship there is between them, though it doesn’t feel real. When they save the girl Yamato I am instantly feeling sympathetic for her character. This is already an interesting dynamic between the characters and with the introduction of the love interest, it gets more interesting.
I have only praised this romance show after having just bashed Kyoukai no Rinne. This is because I am more sympathetic towards the characters in this show than I am in Kyoukai no Rinne because they seem recycled in that show. I am definitely going to continue to watch this show with high expectations for the future of this show.
