The Facts are These:
Yagami Kazuma was originally a part of the Kazuma family, a family that is blessed by the fire spirit. He was to be the successor of the family until he was defeated by his second cousin Ayano. Because of his lack of proficiency in Fire magic he is banished from the family. When he return, he returns as a Wind user, though a special one.
This series seems like it would have been the equivalent of Swords Art Online when it came out. They were both based off a light novel and they have a similar feel to them. I enjoyed this series to an extent. I enjoyed the character Yagami Kazuma, I liked how after he left the Kazuma family he exceeded what was expected to him becoming a man only imagined in legends.
Behind the Scenes:
The series is based off the light novel series of the same name by the author Takahiro Yamato. The light novel series is his only work before he passed away in 2009. The series is directed by Junichi Sakata, with his other major work being DNA2. The series was produced by studio GONZO and licensed in North America by Funimation.
The opening song for the series is “Blast of Wind” by Saori Kiuji. Here it is for you to enjoy…
A Brief View of the World:
In this world spirits of the different elements exist. If you make a contract, or in the past someone in your family made a contract you are able to control the spirits of the element that the contract was made with. There are also demons that attack people or are controlled by others.
This series is enjoyable with an okay story and average characters. This show is nothing special, but you will not be extremely bored watching the show.
The series is rewatchable with only 26 episodes, but be warned that there will never be a conclusion to the story with the original creator of the light novel passing away.
Sword Art Online – For the show I compared it too.
Shakugan no Shana – Fora good romance that resembles this show as well as the magical elements.
I do not own any of the above used pictures and/or video they belong to their original creators, Takahiro Yamato, GONZO and Funimation.
