The Facts are These:

Shiro Emiya is a mage, but not the kind of mage you imagine all he can do is fix small items or make them stronger. One day he is at school and in murdered my a man with a lance, though he wakes up later fine. When he gets home he accidentally summons the warrior known as Saber and is now entered into the Holy Grail War.

Discoveries:

The series looks great, but what less can you expect from studio Ufotable. Story wise it is a similar story to what we saw in the 2010 movie, but the is of course more detail. I enjoyed how they made a prologue  episode centred around Rin. This allowed the watcher to understand more about her and let us see more Archer, because he is a badass that needs it.

Archer is a BADASS! How many times do I have to say it.

Behind the Scenes:

The series is based off of the visual novel Fate/stay night, though specifically the path in the game known as Unlimited Blade Works, developed by Type-Moon. The series was directed by Takahiro Miura, his only other work outside of the series is the sixth movie in the Garden of Sinners movie series. The series was written by Kinoko Nasu. the original writer for the visual novel, his other visual novels are Mahotsukai no Yoru and Tsukihime. The series is a remake of the original Fate/stay night anime that aired in 2006 and the movie that premièred in 2010. The series was produced by studio Ufotable and is Australia by Hanabee and in North America by Aniplex of America.

The opening for the series is “Ideal White” by Mashiro Ayano. Here it is for you to enjoy…

A Brief View of the World:

The series take place in modern day Fuyuki, Japan. The only difference from our world is the existence of magicians and the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail is an object that can grant any wish desired, in the series this is the fifth holy grail war.

The visuals look beautiful, the fights are gorgeous without a frame of combat I wouldn't not want to use for a picture.

Enjoyment:

The series looks amazing, way better than the movie or the 2006 series. The story is great and the concept of summoning heroic spirits is cool enough. The series has okay characters, but overall the show is great.

Rewatchability:

The season is rewatchable with only 14 episodes, but you would have to wait till the second season is over to make that final decision.

Rating:

8/10

Recommendations:

Fate/zero – For the prequel to the series with amazing visuals and overall great story.

29490

Persona 4 – For an interesting series with events that may be a bit unexplainable.

29107

I do not own any of the above used pictures and/or video they belong to their original creators, Type-Moon, Ufotable and Aniplex of America.

  1. Ah, unlimited budget works! Glad to see you enjoyed it. As far as Persona 4 goes… it’s my favorite game series of all time, haha! I’ve seen the anime as well, nice to see it got a mention too. 🙂

  2. Archer may be a badass, but Saber will always sell more figurines. 🙂
