Well let us dive into the Blood Drenched Snow White, who slaughters thousands with her armies of dwarves… What? Your telling me it is about a red headed Snow White? In a romantic comedy? That makes no sense at all.
Shirayuki is a young girl born with red apple-like hair. The prince of the country desires to have her as his concubine, but she refuses, deciding to flee the country instead. While fleeing she meets a man named Zen and his guards, where they become friends. When Zen is poisoned by the Prince, Shirayuki goes to bargain for the antidote. We then find out that Zen is actually the Second Prince of another country and takes Shirayuki away with him.
To start off with the first episode does a lot to develop the character of Shirayuki. We see she is a bold, kind and somewhat stubborn person. She has pride and her desire to run away from her home instead of being treated like an apple picked from a stand is a trait to be admired. Zen seems to be a bold prince that knows some of the harshness of reality, though this episode was more for Shirayuki to shine.
The setting seems to be generic medieval kingdom number, I lost count. As of now there is nothing special about this world, which is kind of refreshing. There are no dragons or people of different races like elves and dwarves. It seems like this series will take a more realistic approach to the medieval fantasy setting.
Overall, it seems like an interesting romance story that I may continue. I definitely recommend romance fans give this show a look, because it seems to have potential.
